Thinh Duy Mai, MD

Dr. Mai was born in Vietnam in 1972 and moved to the United States at a young age. He graduated from UCSC with a BA in Molecular Biology and a minor in Psychology in 1996. He then earned his MS in Cytogenetic at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2001 and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Michigan State College of Human Medicine in 2006.

Dr. Mai’s passion for psychiatry led him to complete his psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California from 2006 to 2011. During his residency, he served as chief resident, a researcher for genetics of bipolar and schizophrenia. He was also a clinical staff member, clinical lead, and clinical director at National Health Services, Inc. He has also been a staff psychiatrist at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation CSP-Sacramento Facility since 2013 and a private practitioner since 2014. Dr. Mai was also the Chief Medical Office at San Jose Behavioral Health for an 80-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Giving back to the Vietnamese community is one of his passion as well. He held various roles in finance and technology, such as Senior Portfolio Analyst at Viet Venture Capital Group and Director of Finance for VietPub.com and Vietnameses.com. He has also been involved in grant writing and youth programs for the Vietnamese community. Investing in the younger generations is also his passion. He has been a board member at Vietnamese Physician Association of Northern California (VPANC), underserving Vietnamese-descent students from low socioeconomic background, who has outstanding academic performance.

Dr. Mai’s extensive education and work experience have equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide his patients with top-quality psychiatric care. He is passionate about helping those who suffer from mental illness and is committed to providing personalized treatment to each of his patients. He is currently the CEO of South Bay Behavioral Health and continues to make significant contributions to the field of psychiatry.

Lucia Cheng, MD

Dr. Cheng is board certified in general adult Psychiatry and Lifestyle Medicine, and specializes in Reproductive/Perinatal Psychiatry as well as working with video gamers. She completed medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and psychiatry residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where she is currently adjunct teaching faculty. 

Dr. Cheng is a pioneer in telemedicine, having been practicing telepsychiatry for over a decade, and currently does exclusively telehealth. Dr. Cheng currently serves as a board member of the International Society of Reproductive Psychiatry (ISRP) and is one of the expert volunteer consultants for the Postpartum Support International (PSI) Prescriber Consult Line. She is also an active volunteer for the mental health organization TakeThis.org.

Kenneth Wulff, MD

Dr. Wulff is a highly experienced psychiatrist with over 45 years of experience in the field. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Harvard University and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Boston University School of Medicine in 1975. After completing his MD, he went on to complete his residency at Herrick Memorial Hospital in 1978.

Dr. Wulff also completed his fellowship in Child Psychiatry at Mount Zion Hospital in 1980.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wulff has worked in a variety of settings, including the Veterans Administration Hospital, Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, and the County of Santa Cruz Department of Mental Health. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with brain injuries and working with children.

Dr. Wulff is known for his dedication to his patients and his ability to provide compassionate care. His extensive experience and education have made him a highly respected figure in the field of psychiatry, and he continues to make significant contributions to the field.

Laura Slippy, PMHNP

Ms. Laura Slippy is a highly qualified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a deep passion for helping patients achieve better mental health. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Fresno State in 1995. Later, she pursued a Master’s degree in Nursing, becoming a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner in 2000. Her interest in mental health led her to pursue certification by the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board in 2014. In 2021, she also obtained a certification in pediatric psychiatry from Duke University.

Ms. Slippy has a strong conviction that psychiatric medicine plays a vital role in a person’s overall well-being. She believes that the most significant problem that someone can face in their life is trauma. Therefore, her goal is to work with patients to help them overcome the challenges they face and lead healthier, happier lives.

With her extensive education and experience, Ms. Slippy is an expert in her field and is dedicated to providing her patients with the highest level of care.

She is a compassionate healthcare provider who strives to make a positive impact on the lives of her patients.

Brandon Phan, PMHNP-BC

Brandon Phan is a Master of Nursing graduate from West Coast University and Master of Science of Nursing, including Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner under California License. He currently works as a Registered Nurse at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in the EPS unit, where he provides psychiatric care to patients in crisis.

Brandon has also worked at Mills Peninsula Medical Center Psych Emergency Services, San Jose Behavioral Health Hospital as a Psychiatric Charge Nurse, and as a Registered Nurse for the Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization Program. He has gained valuable experience in emergency medicine through a One to One Preceptorship with a RN at West Anaheim Medical Center.

Brandon has a strong background in customer service, having worked as an Optometrist Assistant, a Medical Assistant for a Cardiologist, a CNA on a Behavioral Health unit, and in various restaurants. He is passionate about mental health and strives to provide the best care possible to his patients.
