Medication Management

Medication management is a service that we offer to help you find the most effective and safe medication for your mental health condition. Medication can be a powerful tool to reduce the symptoms and improve the quality of life for people who suffer from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health issues. However, finding the right medication can be a complex and challenging process, as different medications may have different effects and side effects on different people. That’s why we have a team of qualified and experienced psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who can prescribe and monitor your medication, and adjust it as needed to optimize your treatment outcomes.

When you come to us for medication management, we will first conduct a thorough assessment of your medical history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. Based on this information, we will recommend one or more medications that may help you find relief from your mental health condition. Depending on your needs, we may prescribe medications such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or mood stabilizers. These medications work by affecting the levels of certain chemicals in your brain, such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which are involved in regulating your mood, emotions, and behavior.

However, not every medication works the same way for everyone. Some people may respond well to one medication, while others may not see any improvement or experience unpleasant side effects. For example, some common side effects of antidepressants include nausea, insomnia, weight gain, sexual dysfunction, and increased suicidal thoughts. If one antidepressant doesn’t work well or causes side effects, your provider may adjust the dosage or have you try another medication that may be better suited to your body chemistry. We will also monitor your progress and response to the medication regularly, and make any necessary changes to ensure that you are getting the best possible treatment.

We understand that everyone is different, and your provider will work with you to create a holistic treatment plan for your condition that may include pairing medication with psychotherapy and/or one of our other treatments, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy or esketamine nasal spray (SPRAVATO). Psychotherapy is a form of counseling that can help you explore and cope with the underlying causes and triggers of your mental health condition, such as trauma, stress, or negative thoughts. TMS is a noninvasive technique that uses medical pulses via a magnetic coil to stimulate specific areas of your brain that are involved in mood regulation, which may improve your symptoms of depression or anxiety. Spravato (esketamine) is a nasal spray that is derived from ketamine, a powerful anesthetic and antidepressant, which may provide rapid and lasting relief for people with treatment-resistant depression.

We don’t push medications and will inform and educate you about any benefits and risks with your care options. We respect your preferences and choices, and we will support you throughout your treatment journey. We believe that medication management is a collaborative and personalized process, and we are here to help you achieve your mental health goals.
